Kaddafi is under fire

On the revolution of Ideas!

After weeks of deliberating, the UN approved an air strike on Libya to put a stop on Kaddafi’s attempt to stay in power. Kaddafi’s disregard to the cease fire agreement led to the decision taken in the UN’s Security Council. Kaddafi has threaten to kill everyone who gets in his way to maintain his regime in power, but this decision from the UN although a bit too late, gives hope to people living in Libya who are threaten by this lunatic ruling this African country.

I welcome this decision, because leaders like Kaddafi cannot be allowed to govern a nation where human rights are not protected, especially those of its own people. It’s unacceptable that Kaddafi has killed his own people simply because they disagree with him, or do not want him in power anymore. This mission has to continue until this leader is removed from power and the people of Libya can decide for themselves who will be their leader. This mission is important since it sends a message to all dictatorships around the world that their time is running out and that soon their moment will come. As time progresses, it’s necessary to aid the leaders of the opposition so  they can move their ground troops towards Kaddafi’s headquarters avoiding any involvement of foreign troops on Libya’s territory. The air strike is decisive, since it disables Kaddafi’s ability to hurt his population and to generate fear in them. Taking out his defenses will make him vulnerable and will allow the opposition to build a strong resistance in order to move forward in the right direction. This direction is to overthrow this unwanted dictator from power and to avoid any further bloodshed of the Libyan population.

Additional to the determination of attacking Libya, most nations who make part of the UN Security council agreed on this action against Kaddafi, except Russia, who claimed that the use of force was not necessary. Now, the question that remains is; what should have been done against Kaddafi?  Should we have stayed put while this lunatic killed its people?  Maybe Russia has an alternative solution, perhaps allowing kaddafi to kill its people without any consequence. I'm sure that if Kaddafi had affected Russian interests,Russia would have agreed to use the force to bring him down, but since that's not happening ,then its OK to see how Libyan people are being slaughtered every day by a leader who has no mercy.

I think that Russia should review its foreign policy since on one hand it helps and creates these monsters, and when they become a Threat, all they can do is suggest not attacking them because maybe they will lose another arms contract. Germany agreed but did not want to be involved in the strike, but at least it showed some sympathy towards the people of Libya. The attitude shown by Russia is unacceptable since is human lives we are talking about. This strike must go on until this man is removed from power.

Kaddafi is under fire, and the decision to strike is a step in the right direction. A Leader like this should not be allowed to be in power and people have the right to uphold arms and overthrow their leaders, especially when they become dictators. A Leader like Chavez, who is a dictator, should pay attention to what is going on in Libya because if he persists to continue in power, his fate will be no different from Kaddafi’s. Chavez instead of supporting Kaddafi should stay in silence because sooner than later people Venezuela will do the same. Governments are for the people and by the people, and no leader in the world should change that. To take away peoples liberties and rights simply because they contradict ideas, or because they oppose any idea or way of government is a violation of the basic human rights, and that should always be protected. I just hope that the world doesn’t allow these regimes to grow and to last so long, since all they bring to their people is desolation and destruction. No good comes out of regimes like Cuba, Venezuela, Libya, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, some African countries etc. Destroying their countries for their own personal benefit is all they do and they must be stopped, either by their own people or by the international community.

We as a globalized society cannot allow that a regime like this continue to exist; It is something like  a political dinosaur and belongs in the past. Kaddafi is under fire and now his time is up. This mission must prevail until he is out, there’s no turning back, and he must be destroyed.
