Since the allied intervention into Libya began
it has been a bit difficult to defeat Kaddafi and his army, but now the
strategy has paid off, and it seems that victory is near. Initially, some suggested
that ground troops were needed to bring down Kaddafi, but as I suggested, that
would have been a terrible mistake. Ground troops would have made the fight
last a bit less than what it has lasted now, but the job has been achieved without
ground troops, so that’s a sign that
things have been going on the right direction. Aiding the rebels against Kaddafi
was the right call. It’s their war, it’s their revolution, and the
international community did well aiding them in order to bring down this
sinister and dangerous dictator, whose regime has killed thousands. Now it’s time for Kaddafi’s regime to pay its
dues.
Kaddafi has been hiding ever since the
revolution began, but during this period many people have been killed. People
who oppose his regime have suffered his cruelty and unwillingness to give up
power. This man should be captured and brought to trial for the atrocities he
has committed, but I’m sure Kaddafi won’t go so quietly. He will resist until the
last minute and die fighting because he knows that the aftermath of his
downfall won’t be easy, so he prefers to die fighting than to be tried.
Sometimes what I find ironic is that it took the international community almost
40 years to point out this man as a cruel dictator and take some action against
him. A few years back we saw Kaddafi seating side by side with many
international leaders as a friend of the west, simply because he was complying
with what the west was asking of him. Because of this, many of his atrocities
went unnoticed, which ultimately led to this revolution. The people of Libya took
a stand that should have been taken many years ago. The west just sat there waiting
for something to happen, which I consider sometimes too much diplomacy and lack
of action or leadership to take out these unwanted leaders.
Leaders like Hugo Chavez should suffer the same
fate, but I’m sure the Venezuelan people are far from Libya’s people, who finally
took a stand without thinking about the international community or what anybody
would think. They saw a bad and dangerous leader and they took him out no
matter the cost. I’m sure the Venezuelan people want Hugo Chavez out of power
but they lack the courage of the Libyan people to take action into their own
hands and bring down their leader. If the Venezuelan people expect the
international community to do something, they will spend a whole generation waiting
for what won’t happen, unless they take some action themselves.
Kaddafi’s fall is near, he can run but he can’t
hide. I’m sure the rebels with support of the allies will defeat the last
remains of Kaddafi’s empire and move forward to bring peace to Libya. Kaddafi is
now a threat for many, he not only helped many leaders around the world with money,
but he also was a key ally for many intelligence agencies in covert operations
in the Middle East. Many documents now reveal that Libya was a center for
interrogating suspected terrorists and, of course, this meant torture and other
not so humane techniques. As the end approaches for Kaddafi, many things will
be uncovered; especially how the west used his regime to achieve many
objectives in the Middle East and how many leaders depended on Kaddafi’s pocket
book to finance their campaigns and other activities. Even worse, we now learn
that China helped Kaddafi by selling arms in his fight against the rebels,
which I consider unacceptable.
In the
end, Kaddafi is a problem and he must be taken out. I’m sure he won’t go
without a fight, nevertheless he will fall and his regime will come to an end.
As we move forward it is necessary to have a worldwide legislation not allowing
these types of regimes and making it almost impossible to see these types of
leaders from rising in the future. When I
see leaders like Kaddafi still in power, I feel like in the dinosaur age. So it’s
time to bring down Kaddafi and regimes like his. The end is near and that is a
reality Kaddafi won’t escape from and that all his money won’t save him from.

I feel ashamed of having a Prime Minister (Berlusconi) who has been a Gheddafi's friend... Hope his fall will come soon! and the same for the other leaders like him: let's change this world!
