Obama and his new Horizon

On the Revolution of Ideas!

As a result of the new American Congress, which now has one house controlled by Democrats and the other by Republicans, Obama’s Horizon has definitely changed. Many positive things happened under the democratic rule in the American Congress, nevertheless many issues were not solved, and that’s why many Americans felt it was time for a stronger hand and  now Republicans have a chance to show America why they were the best alternative in November, and why now they are the better option to push key legislation that will get America moving towards the right direction.

Obama, on the other hand, was the biggest loser out of the November elections for congress. His party lost control of one the houses, but due to the fact of the extreme leftist position on many issues, poor international management from democrats, The unemployment rate which is still close to almost 10%, Lack of vision on some issues by democrats like the Free Trade agreements with several key allies, and the health care reform that for many it's a great solution, but for some it’s an expensive reform which America can’t afford and will generate serious deficit issues in the future. Without a doubt other issues which have affected the Obama Presidency are the War, the recent Wiki Leaks break out of classified information and the lack of action on behalf of the Latino community to push for the immigration reform, which is important to solve key labor issues for millions of people. The horizon is pushing to the center from which Obama will have to move in other to secure his health care bill and other key issues in Capitol Hill.

For America is definitely a great moment for a shift in power in congress after 4 years of democratic power. Some things were achieved, not all that was promised was done and not because it couldn’t be done, but because there wasn’t enough political will to get things accomplished on regards to some issues like the Immigration reform and the Free Trade agreements. One example of the Free Trade Agreements is the treaty between Colombia and The United States ,which will benefit thousands people not only in Colombia, but in the United States, generating thousands of jobs. But like I mentioned before, one of the reasons why the Democratic Party lost control of the house was because of the extreme leftist tendency it had towards certain issues and Colombia and the Free Trade Agreement was one of them. The worse thing is that Colombia is a key ally, and nothing has been done to push to ratify this treaty. With republicans controlling the house the horizon will allow for better government especially on key subjects, Obama will now have to show his character to get things done. He will have to show he is that leader who said 2 years ago  it was time for a change, so if it is, he must show America with clear results why he is that leader all thought would change America for better. Mr. President, it can’t be all just talk and talk and nice words, The American people need results on key issues like creating jobs and getting the economy moving. Creating jobs is how you will be measured, and will determine if you get reelected or not. You are a great politician but it’s time to lay down the law and show what you are made of, otherwise your administration will not see another 4 years.

All in all, the Horizon in Washington has changed, but I hope that it changes for the better. Many things still have to be done, like putting an end to certain regimes around the world, like Venezuela and Iran which represent a threat to America and stability in certain regions of the world. On regards to Immigration is key to push for legislation on that end, otherwise both parties will feel the discontent of the Hispanic community when November 2012 comes around, It is a key issue and must be taken care of. Republicans will bring the necessary balance to politics in Washington but I hope that balance doesn’t include any form of fascism because there’s no good Horizon in that. The new Horizon, which I hope translates into less finger pointing on who is to blame, and more efficient governing by the legislators and of course The President. The new Horizon has set, and now is time to see how the light lasts so it won’t fade so fast into the light of darkness.
