South American Nations Cup 2011

On the Revolution of Ideas!

Many things have happened in this Copa America so far, this article will make a short analysis of what has transpired in this South American nation's cup.

Group C has given many surprising results, Uruguay for example is third and Peru and Chile are first. Mexico is 4th and almost on the edge of elimination.

The game between Uruguay and Chile was definitely a good game, where both teams had opportunities to win the game, but unfortunately we came to a tie. Not much has been seen in this South American nation’s cup. There are many good teams that have not shown their potential in this tournament. Aside from Costa Rica, Colombia, Chile, and Peru who have won at least one match, all the other teams have lost or tied.

Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil have not been up to what is expected of them. Argentina as the host has shown very little in this tournament and must win its game against Costa Rica. Argentina must improve In order to move forward in this Copa America 2011. Messi must show what he is made of, but his fellow countrymen must not pressure him to win because that will only make Messi fail. Messi and Tevez are very important for their team, but I’m sure that Argentina will need more than just Tevez and Messi to win. A collective effort is needed to make Argentina win its followers again showing the world why they are considered one of the best teams in the world.

Brazil will play Paraguay and we hope this game brings better soccer than the one shown against Venezuela. Brazil didn’t play a good game against the Venezuelans and this game with Paraguay should give Brazil the chance to prove why it is one the best teams in the world. Uruguay has not had a good Copa America, but it’s clear that all these teams must show their skills and move forward to the second round with better soccer , otherwise they will be eliminated and sent back home.

Ecuador will play Venezuela, and this should be a game between two teams that don’t have much to show, but still have to play and try to win. Ecuador and Venezuela will try to move forward in a tournament that doesn’t expect much from them.

So looking forward to tomorrow’s games, Colombia will have to win against Bolivia. Colombia has a great team with very good players and it’s time to show that Colombia came to the Copa America 2011 to win and not to lose. Bolivia is a team with a good defensive line but it will need more than that to win over Colombia. What I consider to be a mistake, is that players like Teofilo Forero come out talking trash about his coach on TV. This is a mistake because he should do this inside the locker room and not to the media. Forero feels he should play, then he should express this to his coach and proof he is the best. I don’t think being public about his feelings will make this happen, or even better, will make him score. It is clear that Colombia needs to score but Forero should keep his feelings to himself. So tomorrow will be a day to know what will happen with group A and see how Argentina tries to come back and win over Costa Rica. Winning over Costa Rica won’t be as easy as many think, so Argentina should be cautious because maybe who ends up winning can be Costa Rica.

Many surprises still await in this Copa America 2011, but I’m sure after we know who will move forward to the next round, we will be ready to see how this tournament unfolds. Argentina will jump on the field tomorrow to show it is one the best, Colombia to win over Bolivia, Bolivia to try to win against Colombia and qualify, and Costa Rica will do the same as Bolivia. We hope Colombia wins over Bolivia and that Gomez plans a good game so we don’t have surprises. Brazil should win over Paraguay, but Paraguay will do everything to avoid this at all costs making it an exciting game to watch.

So let’s sit back and relax and enjoy this Copa America 2011.
